Lameroo, like many of our Southern Mallee towns, has a community built around thriving agricultural businesses. The town grew exponentially when it became a stop on the Adelaide-Melbourne railway line in 1906 and although the railway ceased its service in 2015, Lameroo continues to prosper. Broadacre and sheep farming are still a large part of the community today but as our town grew, it has also become an important service centre, with businesses, churches, schools, and community organisations.
